Jonathan WuWong

I am a Visual Arts and Linguistics major at the University of Chicago. I am broadly interested in the ways people create private and public spaces. In order to investigate these relationships further, I try to think about questions around the use of human space and how we define those spaces through notions of privacy, intimacy, ownership and memory. Previously focusing on subjects like windows at night or bathrooms, I hope to expand further into these ideas by examining my own history and heritage. Our lives, I believe, are established by our relationships to the buildings, rooms, and moments we inhabit. Though because our definitions of space often deviate from our physical sense, we can use art as an emotional and analytical tool to examine these contradictions, and that goal is what motivates me now.
