The University of Chicago’s Department of Visual Arts and Logan Center Exhibitions present the 2023 MFA Thesis Exhibition center  •  part featuring works by CM Clemente, Ceyhun Fırat, Kyrin Hobson, Jules Koreman, Iona Bohan Liu, Jacob Pet, C. Tai Tai, and Qiuchen Wu.


Presented by DoVA and Logan Center Exhibitions with the support of UChicago Arts and UChicago’s Graduate Student Council.

“An exercise of intuitive building. There are no wrong notes here, only good and even better ones. Join us for an evening of improvised music, poetry, and movement. Layers of catharsis caked on with reverb, fuzz, and scratchy inflections. Join the pile-up and bring your own instrument to hammer away at or some lyrics to yowl out.”

  • Kyrin Hobson, “Requiem After These Storms: A NeoHooDoo Moment”

  • Jules Koreman, “Four Cornered Shirt” is a performance that explores the language of dance to manipulate and move sculptural form.  Four dancers will explore the shape, tension and fluidity of a sculptural garment that connects them together. The performance will take place outdoors in the Logan Center Pavilion and the performance duration is under five minutes.

  • C. Tai Tai, ”(swim/survival/sink/soft) TANKING”

  • Iona Liu, “There’s a Birthday Woman on the Pedestal”; “On my birthday, I will invite my mother, who gave me life, to be the only audience for my performance ‘There’s a Woman on the Pedestal’”
