ERIN WITH AN “A” is an American filmmaker and visual artist. They create paintings, films, videos, photos, and large-scale embroideries. Their work capitalizes on the humor of being a “jack of all and master of none”. Their work pokes fun at the arbitrary genderization assigned to different media and aesthetics. They also challenge the notion of what is “fine art” versus what is “craft”. Across all the media they work in, they focus on futility – the futility of art, of humanity, and everything in between, and find humor in the simultaneous beauty and cruelty of living. Their moving image work has a largely self-confessional nature, and explores the macro- and micro-repercussions of sexism, classism, and the myth of the American dream.
