“My works are fueled by memory, loss and childhood. I conjure scenes inspired by elements of nature and the cultural sentiments that I experienced growing up Mexican-American. I utilize oil painting and mixed media techniques to translate my conscious and subconscious thoughts that emerge from a nostalgia to a cohesive image. Just as memories are fluid and fueled by emotion, I use texture to animate the scene. My goal is not to perfectly recreate an image, but to capture the feelings and honor the past from which they came from.”
